Sweet Paris!

My big dream from an early age was to visit Paris, France. Living in Germany made that easy, it was just a bus ride away. So three girlfriends and I booked a trip to Paris one summer for my 21st birthday.

As the bus drove into the city, it felt like coming home. I loved every window box of flowers, every sidewalk cafe, and every cobblestone street. It was perfect.

We dropped our luggage off at the hotel and set out to survey the city. We visited Notre Dame, the Sacred Heart Church, and of course the Eiffel Tower. Inside Notre Dame it was absolutely breath taking as the rays of light pierced the stained glass windows, and painted the still air inside.

We visited the Palace of Versailles and Concord square where on a cold October morning in 1793 before an indifferent and hostile crowd, Marie Antoinette, the last queen of France, was led to the scaffold and lost her head, literally!

I saw the Mona Lisa in the Louvre and took a boat ride down the Siene River. It was an amazing time.

On the way home we stopped in the small town of Epergnes, France where we toured the Moet & Chandon champagne winery. My favorite!

Sorry my pictures are so faded, I guess it’s time for another visit with a better camera!

Whatever is on your bucket list, or a dream you hope to accomplish some day, I hope you are able to do it. It’s so wonderful to do that which you’ve dreamed of for so long.
