Old Meets New

I’ve been to Old San Juan in Puerto Rico a couple of times. I love the food, the people, the architecture and the wonderful culture of this land. But as you can see in the main picture here, I love the blending of old and new. It may be hard to really see, but at the end of the street, behind the horse-drawn carriage, is the old military fort that stands tall at the ocean’s edge, that once protected this community.

Life is all about blending, or compromise. We keep things of value that we can’t let go of, and then we release what is no longer needed to make way for new and better.

As we examine our past, present, and goals for the future, it can easily look like a kaleidoscope of brilliant color and shapes.

Are there things you’ve been holding onto that no longer serve you? Perhaps a bad habit, negative thoughts, judgments about yourself or someone else? Maybe it’s time to let go and see what good and positive things can take its place?

But don’t let go of something until you’re sure you don’t want it anymore, or don’t need it. Trust and allow yourself to be surprised.

What a great post — and great thoughts! I *love* “a kaleidoscope of brilliant color and shapes”.
